Sony DSC T30 vs. Fuji finepix F30 or is there a better one?

Im Trying to decide on which camera to buy,
price is not much of an issue, but i don want to spend more then 750Cdn.

I am mainly looking for a camera thas not too large
It has to be very good at taking night shots (particularly of the sky and moon)
And almost as good at scenery shots, particularly with respect to colour.
all purpose a plus but not very important

Now i was looking though the reviews and came to a tight draw between the Sony dsc T30 and Fuji finepix F30. I was originally leaning towards the Fuji because I read that the Sony tends to turn eveything redish but looking at the night photos posted in the reviews you can make out signs from the one taken by the sony where as the ones from the Fuji just show the signs as blury outlines of the words on the sign.

Any suggestions as to which one to go with, or maybe another option i should look into are much appreciated.

Well not having used the Sony I cant say if it's better or not but in all the reviews I've read the Fuji F30 is top notch in low light. I can recommend the Fuji from personal experience with it's baby brother the F10. My F30 wont be arriving until Saturday so I can't comment from personal experience on that cam. (yet)

F30 is not known for handling such extreme lighting contrast. From the 2 links, I agree it's the T30. Have you checked out Canon SD700 IS?

The first shot is completely different in approach, though, shooting the moon through the silhouette of the tree branches. A lot of the quality of that shot was good technique and a good eye.

Now i was looking though the reviews and came to a tight draw between the Sony dsc T30 and Fuji finepix F30. I wouldn't rate the T30 photo as better simply because the neon sign is more legible. The T30 shot also features a somewhat blotchy looking sky and the sign on the US Bank tower (which isn't lit) isn't legible at all, wheras in the F30 photo you can actually read it.

Taking good photos with the moon in them can be tricky. The ability of the camera isn't always enough. The moon is often so much brighter than the surrounding landscape that you can't expose one properly without over- or under-exposing the other. That's were creativity comes in (like that first photo with the tree in silhouette and the moon partially obscured behind clouds), or a photo editor (so you can combine two photos, one with the moon properly exposed, and the other with the landscape properly exposed). I'm not that good at photo editing yet, so my best moon shots so far have been on film, using the good old double exposure trick.

Thanks for the help everyone. I think im going to go with the F30... Thought how the Neon Sign shows up well on the Sony and not the F30, still bugs me a lil. The over all city apears to be in better focus on the F30, so i guesse for what ever reason the sony choose to focus on the sign, and since the F30 is full of features i suppose i could get a similar affect by playing with its focus.

Am i wrong in that assumption?
please correct me if i am, my experience with digital cameras is sadly lacking for i was one of the ones with an old nikon SLR, and its indestructable lenses, and my high school had an anceint red room i could use for processing when i wanted. since im off at university i don't have the red room anymore, and as to the nikon, it was indestructable untill it gone ran over by a jeep by my cousin on vacation. and i don think im ready for a digital SLR, i tried one, but since i never bothered to learn what ne of the nobs on the slr were called, jsut the effect they had, i found it a lil frustrating and i felt like i break it with the abuse i am use to putting on the larger size camera. So i know how to get the better moon and sky pics, i just need a camera that is capable of getting them, and following through the learning curve of digital definitions, so i can get that savant like twiddling back again.

Loh its late, maybe the reason for the rant as i try to aviod more chem.
